The story behind
Dímelo, according to DoReSol
Daddy Yankee released Dímelo in 2002, within his album El Cangri.com. The song was recorded in a Puerto Rico studio, and has a fast rhythm, with a beat that moves. The lyrics speak of a complicated relationship, of that tension when someone wants you but doesn't say it. The singer's voice gets stronger in the verses, as if trying to convince someone. The melody is clear, with a percussion base that feels in your bones. The song repeats several times, and with each repetition, the energy increases a bit more. It's a piece that's heard at parties, in cars, anywhere where reguetón sounds loud. The production was done by DJ Blass, one of the most important producers of the time. The song became a classic of the genre, and remains part of the essence of reguetón.
