El cangri.com

When Daddy Yankee released El Cangri.com in 2002, he already had a solid foundation in the music scene. This album, his second studio work, was released under the independent label Los Cangris Music Inc., an initiative he shared with Nicky Jam. The main production fell to DJ Blass, who at the time was a key figure in reggaeton. The album stood out for being one of the genre's first to appear on Billboard charts, supported by distribution from V.I. Music. Two physical versions were released, one for Puerto Rico and another for the United States.

About the album

El cangri.com, according to DoReSol

From the album came songs that became emblematic, such as "Latigazo", which resonated on radio stations in Miami and New York City, and "Ella Está Soltera". The latter, along with "Guayando", were recorded as duets with Nicky Jam. According to Nicky Jam, "Guayando" was an improvised moment that became one of his favorites. The album, with its 18 tracks, explored reggaeton with a particular energy, coinciding with a moment of political debate about the genre in Puerto Rico. El Cangri.com also included three songs with influences from New York Hip-Hop, courtesy of DJ Dicky, showcasing the artist's versatility.

The impact of El Cangri.com was notable. It was the best-selling album in Puerto Rico in 2002, according to Billboard and Nielsen SoundScan measurements, and achieved Gold certification in Mexico. This work marked Daddy Yankee's first step towards broader international recognition and served as a platform for what would be his next major project, Barrio Fino. DJ Blass's production was fundamental for several of these songs to reach the most important music charts, consolidating his sound.
