The story behind

Descarga caliente, according to DoReSol

In Descarga Caliente, Rubén Blades presents a song that, although it did not achieve the expected fame at the time, laid the groundwork for later compositions that would resonate strongly. The recording of this song, along with other pieces like El Bravo and Juan Gonzáles, took place during a family trip by Blades to New York. This album, which marked Blades' studio debut and was the eleventh for Pete Rodríguez and His Orchestra, was released in 1970 under the Alegre Records label. The experience of being in New York not only enriched these songs but also inspired Blades to create El Cazanguero, which he would later include in The Good, the Bad, the Ugly. The duration of Descarga Caliente is 5:24.

The arrival of Rubén Blades in New York for the second time caught the attention of Pancho Cristal, the producer for Alegre Records, who already had a history of success. This encounter was key, as Cristal had produced notable songs previously. The compositions on this album, including Descarga Caliente, served as a springboard for Blades' later works such as Pedro Navaja, Plástico, and Siembra, demonstrating the importance of this initial work in his career.
