The story behind

Ricardo Montaner pushed his most recognized ballad to the limit with an unexpected twist: he transformed it into a dialogue between his voice and the arches of the London Metropolitan Orchestra. It wasn’t a simple orchestral arrangement; the song Déjame llorar gained a layer of melancholy that the original guitar version never had. The violins don’t just accompany—they breathe with him, and at the three-minute mark, when the strings swell into *crescendo*, the listener feels the song unfold. The detail that surprises most is that subtle change in the lyrics Montaner made at the last moment: a line that, in the symphonic version, sounds like an intimate confession in the middle of an empty hall.Recorded in London during the summer of 1999, the project began as an experiment: taking past hits and stripping them of their acoustic essence to clothe them in grandeur. The London Metropolitan Orchestra didn’t play over pre-recorded tracks; Montaner insisted on capturing everything live, ensuring that human imperfection—a breath, a slight mismatch between strings and winds—would be preserved on tape. The result was an album that, unintentionally, became his most listened-to work in Latina. Déjame llorar lasts 4:50, but within that duration lie four minutes of tension and an ending that fades like the echo of a sigh.
