The story behind

Decadencia, according to DoReSol

The song Decadencia by Héroes del Silencio lasts 8 minutes and 31 seconds, an extensive format that allows for the exploration of dense soundscapes and musical evolutions. This piece is part of Senderos de Traición, the Spanish band's second studio album, which was conceived in the Kirios studios in Madrid. The production was handled by Phil Manzanera, under the umbrella of Sound & Management in Zurich. Subsequently, the mixing was done at Metropolis Studios in London, with Keith Bessey as sound engineer.

The sound of Senderos de Traición, and by extension Decadencia, is described as a fusion drawing from gothic rock, pop, and hard rock, in line with the trends of the era. Influences from bands like The Cult and The Mission have been noted. This album marked a turning point, as, despite the success of their debut with El mar no cesa in 1988, the band felt that the sound of that first work did not capture the energy of their live performances. Senderos de Traición became the band's first number one album in Spain. Héroes del Silencio, originally from Zaragoza, consisted of Juan Valdivia on lead guitar, Enrique Bunbury on vocals and rhythm guitar, Joaquín Cardiel on bass, and Pedro Andreu on drums. Their career, which culminated in their separation in 1996 after twelve years of activity, led them to sell over six million records and perform more than a thousand concerts in over thirty-seven countries, establishing themselves as a benchmark for Spanish-language rock.
