The story behind

The duration of De no olvidar, barely two minutes and twenty-seven seconds, condenses an energy that invites movement. The band, which was born in December 1995, has consolidated itself as an important voice in Uruguayan music. At the forefront is Sebastián Teysera, known as "el Enano", who leads a proposal that mixes rock with rhythms like reggae and ska, and where brass instruments, such as trumpets and trombones, have a very marked prominence.

The path of La Vela Puerca began to take shape with their first album, Deskarado. To be able to record it, they secretly entered a contest called Generación '96. The interest of Obligado Records, an independent label, was key, providing more studio time and the guidance of artistic producer Claudio Taddei. That same summer, '98, found them touring the Uruguayan coast, even performing at the important Teatro de Verano in Montevideo. They shared the stage opening for Los Piojos and reached gold record status, and a year later, platinum. It was at that moment that producer Gustavo Santaolalla received the album, taking charge of a new mix that was re-released at the end of 1999 under the Surco/Universal label, now under the name La Vela Puerca. Their arrival in Argentina occurred during the "Girafónica" tour of the summer of 2000, a name that arose from the hoarseness that affected the vocalists throughout that tour. The album De bichos y flores featured production by Santaolalla from the start, and its recording was divided between Buenos Aires and Los Angeles, finally being edited in Montevideo in October 2001. After another intense summer of shows on the coasts of the Río de la Plata, the band dedicated themselves to recording between March and April 2004.
