Sui Generis recorded Cuando comenzamos a nacer in 1972, when the Argentine country duo had already been around for a year. The album Vida was released early November of that year, after two years of trying to find a company that would take them seriously. The song became one of the most played in their shows, along with others like Dime quién me lo robó or Natalio Ruiz. The voices of Charly García and Nito Mestre blended with the accordion and guitar, as if the music were a conversation between two friends who didn't need words to express what they felt. The song wasn't just a theme; it was a space where people felt close to something that had nothing to do with the rules of conventional music.
