The story behind
Cover Me (radio), according to DoReSol
This Cover Me you hold in your hands is not the version Bruce Springsteen originally recorded. In reality, it is a compilation album that brings together interpretations of his compositions by different artists. What's interesting is that it features both very well-known versions and others that are more difficult to find.
The first time this record was released was on vinyl back in 1986. A few years later, in 1989, a CD reissue came out that added two more tracks, performed by Greg Kihn. That CD version also saw a change: the version of Fire by The Pointer Sisters was included instead of the one by Robert Gordon. All songs, with the occasional exception noted separately, bear the signature of Bruce Springsteen.
Bruce Frederick Joseph Springsteen, born in 1949 in Long Branch, New Jersey, is an American musician known for his rock music with lyrics that explore deep feelings and life in his home state, a place with a strong industrial imprint. Throughout his career, he has navigated between rock and folk, often associated with the sound known as *heartland rock*. Much of his career is linked to the E Street Band, whose characteristic sound and live performances, which can extend for over three hours, have been fundamental to his trajectory. His work has earned him accolades such as twenty Grammy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, and an Academy Award.
