The story behind

In Claroscuro, Soda Stereo left behind a song that they barely played on their main tour. The track appeared on the program Fax en Concierto in 1992, hosted by Nicolás Repetto, and later in a series of shows at Estadio Obras that same December. It wasn’t until 1996, during the Sueño Stereo Tour, that they revived it with a more powerful twist: the extended version they performed at the Teatro Monumental in Chile and at Club Ferro Carril Oeste was recorded in audio and video. That version, recorded in the United States in March 1996, ended up included in El Último Concierto B, though it wasn’t part of the farewell tour. Strangely, the song didn’t return for the Me Verás Volver Tour, where only four songs from Dynamo were featured.

The sound of Claroscuro was recorded at Estudio Supersónico in Buenos Aires during the Dynamo sessions, an album that marked a turning point in the band’s career. At 4:15 in length, the track wasn’t released as a single, but it caught the attention of Bono during the Zoo TV Tour in Mexico: according to records, the U2 frontman requested a copy of the album and, upon hearing this track, found inspiration to write Lemon, included in Zooropa that same year. Dynamo, released on cassette by Sony Music Latin on October 26, 1992, came with a double platinum certification in pre-sales, though its initial reception was more subdued than that of Canción Animal. The album, recorded live and mixed in the same studio, explored a more experimental sound, far removed from what they had been doing.
