The story behind

Children and All That Jazz, according to DoReSol

The song Children and All That Jazz, which gives its name to an album by Joan Baez, has a particularity: although Baez is known for bringing other people's songs to life, in this case, the central piece is her own creation, and it is said to be inspired by Bob Dylan. This recording, with a duration of 3 minutes and 9 seconds, was part of her seventeenth studio work, released by A&M Records in April 1975.

The production of this track was handled by Joan Baez herself along with David Kershenbaum, while Ellis Sorkin was in charge of recording engineering and Rick Ruggieri of mixing. The song has resonated so much that other groups have reinterpreted it; for example, the heavy metal band Judas Priest included it in their 1977 album Sin After Sin, making it part of their usual live repertoire. Later, in 1986, the folk duo The Smith Sisters presented it on their album Mockingbird, and Blackmore's Night has also made their own version.
