The story behind
In Hollywood Song, Serú Girán moves away from the orchestral complexities that had marked their previous work. For this track, they opted for a more direct approach, seeking a simpler structure and a message that would arrive clearly. The duration of the piece, which extends for 4 minutes and 50 seconds, allows this idea to be developed without haste, building an atmosphere that invites reflection on the world it portrays.
This track is part of The Fat of the Capitals, the band's second studio album, released in August 1979 under the Sazam label. The official presentation of this album took place at the Buenos Aires Auditorium, formerly known as Ex Kraft, between September 6 and 16 of that same year. The album itself was later recognized, appearing at number 17 on a list of the best works of Argentine rock published by Rolling Stone magazine in Buenos Aires. The visual proposal of the album was also striking, with a cover that parodied Gente magazine, showing the band members.
