The story behind

La Vela Puerca always had a sound that resonates in the body, but Burbujas is one of those songs that grabs you from the first chord. It's not just the catchy rhythm or the trumpet interplay that jumps between verses, but the way the melody stretches like foam: light at first, yet with a weight that lingers. The track flows in four minutes and four seconds without forced pauses, as if every note were crafted to make the listener unable to resist tapping their feet. The song emerged at a pivotal moment for the band. La Vela Puerca was already touring along Uruguay’s coast when Deskarado — their debut album — began blasting across Montevideo. The material had been made possible thanks to the Generación '96 contest, but it was the label Obligado Records that gave them extra studio time and assigned Claudio Taddei as producer. By the time Burbujas reached Gustavo Santaolalla’s ears, the band had already opened for Los Piojos at the Teatro de Verano and earned a gold record. Santaolalla not only remixed the track but re-released the entire album in 1999 under Surco/Universal, opening doors to Argentina. There, during the Girafónica summer tour of 2000, the singers’ hoarseness ended up naming the tour. Later, in De bichos y flores (2001), Santaolalla returned as artistic producer, and the band recorded between Buenos Aires and Los Angeles before releasing it in Montevideo. By 2004, with another summer packed with shows in the Río de la Plata, Burbujas remained that timeless track that never ages.
