The story behind
Brand New Day, according to DoReSol
Sting wrote "Brand New Day" as a tribute to Stevie Wonder, who also played the harmonica on the song. The recording had a distinctive touch from the beginning, thanks to the synthesized bass that Kipper, the producer, described as if it were a sequence of Wonder's chord progressions. Although Wonder found it difficult to play in the key of B major, he managed to do so after a few minutes of adjustment, with two takes sufficient. The song was released as a single on September 13, 1999, and won a Grammy in 2000. It also became popular in the United Kingdom and Canada. In 2018, Sting released an updated version of the song on his Facebook profile, as part of a new year.
