The story behind
Balsa, according to DoReSol
When approaching Balsa, we encounter a piece that invites introspection, with a duration of 5:08 that unfolds in an electronic soundscape. This song is part of Bocanada, the second solo work by Gustavo Cerati, released in 1999. It is interesting to note that, despite being his second solo album, he himself considered it his "first solo album" in terms of conception and production. This album marked a new path for Cerati following the breakup of Soda Stereo, a band that had released Sueño Stereo in 1995, a time when the group was going through internal difficulties.
The production of Bocanada, and consequently of Balsa, stands out for its strong influence of electronic music, a sound that Cerati explored thoroughly. The album was released under the BMG Ariola label. Previously, in 1993, Cerati had released his first solo project, Amor amarillo. The gestation of Bocanada, with Balsa as one of its expressions, took place in a context of artistic redefinition for the musician, seeking his own and distinctive sound after the era of Soda Stereo.
