The story behind
Auf Achse, according to DoReSol
The song *Auf Achse* by Franz Ferdinand, with a duration of 4:20, immerses us in an atmosphere that seeks to reflect the coldness and melancholy of a heartbreak situation, all wrapped in a rhythm designed for the dance floor. The title, a German expression, translates to "on the road," and the lyrics seem to explore the idea of moving on and leaving behind an unrequited love. Interestingly, the inspiration for this track also comes from a German television show that Nick McCarthy watched as a child in Munich.
This track is part of the Scottish band's self-titled debut album, Franz Ferdinand, released in February 2004 through Domino Recording Company. The recording took place during 2003 at Gula Studios in Malmö, Sweden, with primary production by Tore Johansson, who also handled the mixing. Two of the album's songs were produced by the band themselves. The record received an excellent reception, entering the UK Albums Chart at number three in February 2004. Singles such as "Take Me Out" and "The Dark of the Matinée," which reached the top ten in the United Kingdom, and "Michael," which reached the top 20, were released from this work. The album Franz Ferdinand was recognized with the Mercury Prize in 2004 and received a nomination for Best Alternative Album at the Annual Grammy Awards.
