The story behind
When you face *Another Brick in the Wall, Part 3*, you encounter the end of a narrative. It's the piece that closes the idea of isolation that has been building throughout the album The Wall. Here, the protagonist, Pink, has already erected his metaphorical barrier, and in this final fragment, he directly dismisses everyone around him, considering them just "another brick in the wall." It's a moment of profound disconnection, where the music becomes rawer and more direct, reflecting that feeling of finality and renunciation.
The recording of The Wall, which spanned between April and November 1979, was a process where producer Bob Ezrin had a notable influence. For example, to make the song catchier, he suggested incorporating disco music elements, something that David Gilmour, the guitarist, explored by visiting discotheques to capture the pulse of the era. Despite his initial reservations about that sound, Gilmour felt that the final result still sounded unmistakably like Pink Floyd. It was Ezrin who, faced with the band's resistance to releasing singles, edited an extended version of *Part 2* and, creatively, had a children's choir record for it at Islington Green School. The school's music director, Alun Renshaw, saw this as an opportunity for the kids to experiment with relevant music, even hiding the lyrics from the headmaster for fear he would object. The total duration of the three parts of *Another Brick in the Wall* is 8:28, with Part 3 being 1:18, although MusicBrainz records a duration of 1:43 for this specific section. The music was composed by Roger Waters, and the album was released on November 30, 1979.
