The story behind
Animal, one of the tracks that are part of Desireless's debut album, François, invites us to explore the universe of an artist who found her voice after an unconventional path. This song, with a duration of 4:47, is part of an album that was released in 1989 and reissued in 2001. The album, which would bear the name of her partner, François Tabah, reached position 53 on the charts. A remixed version by P. Hammond and P. Waterman, known as "Britmix", also contributed to the promotion of this work.
Before establishing herself as Desireless, Claudie Fritsch-Mentrop, born on December 25, 1952, had a diverse career that included fashion design and travels to India in 1980. Her path to music took shape in 1984, when she met producer Jean-Michel Rivat, with whom she began to work. A year later, in 1985, Claudie met François Tabah, a French composer with whom she would share her life for eighteen years. The turning point came in 1986 with the release of her most recognized single, Voyage, Voyage. This song not only reached number one on numerous European charts, including Russia, but also sold over five million copies and became an instant club hit. Prior to this success, Claudie had been a member of Air 89 and had released singles such as Chercher l'Amour Fou and Qui Peut Savoir. In 1990, the birth of her daughter led her to take a break from the entertainment world. Her second album, I Love You, arrived in 1992, showing a more personal side where Claudie took authorship of several tracks and explored various musical styles. Since then, she has maintained a more intimate approach to her music, performing and collaborating with other artists, ranging from electronic to other genres.
