The story behind
Amigo vuelve a casa pronto, according to DoReSol
When Sui Generis recorded their first album, Vida, in 1972, they not only presented a collection of songs to the world, but also laid the groundwork for a sound that would resonate long after. The music on this album, particularly tracks like Amigo vuelve a casa pronto, became part of Argentina's soundscape, being performed at informal gatherings and celebrations. This initial work, released by the Microfón label, was fundamental to the band's projection and, especially, to Charly García, who composed the music for this piece.
The group was formed at the Instituto Social Militar Dr. Dámaso Centeno, initially with an electric lineup, influenced by the Swinging London scene and the regulars at La Cueva. However, they soon evolved into an acoustic duo. It was during a tour of Mar del Plata that Jorge Álvarez hired them for the Talent Micr label. The impact of Vida was such that, in 2007, the Argentine edition of Rolling Stone included it in its list of the 100 best Argentine rock albums, recognizing its lasting impact.
