The story behind

The song *Amigo* by Marc Anthony, with its 4:13 duration, presents itself as a piece that invites reflection on friendship. Although the original title of the album where it is included is Amar Sin Mentiras, which translates to Love Without Lies in English, the essence of *Amigo* centers on that fundamental human bond. This album, released on June 8, 2004, marked a milestone in the artist's career, being his fifth work in Spanish and the first pop-oriented one in this language. The production was handled by Colombian singer-songwriter Estéfano, and it featured the vocal participation of Jennifer López, adding an extra layer of interest to the sonic proposal.

The musical journey of Marc Anthony, whose real name is Marco Antonio Muñiz Ruiz Rivera and was born in New York on September 16, 1968, is diverse. Before consolidating himself in genres like salsa, bolero, and ballad, he took his first steps in hip hop alongside Little Louie, achieving a number one hit on the US charts in 1991. His foray into salsa under the RMM label, driven by Ralph Mercado, brought him sustained success, starting with his version of "Hasta que te conocí" by Juan Gabriel. His talent also resonated in Spain, where he achieved gold records, being one of the Latin pioneers to do so. The influence of Paul Simon, whom he considers a mentor, was key to his international projection, especially when he was chosen to star in his work The Capeman. The album Amar Sin Mentiras, of which *Amigo* is a part, was recognized with a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards, held on February 13, 2005.
