The story behind

The song Amarte a ti, performed by Cristian Castro, was released in 1996 as the second single from his album El Deseo de Oír Tu Voz. The recording took place in 1995 at Old House Studios in New York City, under the production of Daniel Freiberg, who also co-wrote the piece with Walter Arenzon. This track, classified within the Latin pop genre, reached a notable position on the music charts, becoming Castro's third number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks and sixth on the Latin Pop Airplay. Its performance was recognized at the 1997 BMI Awards, where it stood out among the best-performing songs of the year.

This track, with an approximate duration of 3:24, was released under the Melody label. The influence of Amarte a ti extended beyond its commercial success, being covered by the Dominican band Sin Fronteras on their 1996 album Abriendo Caminos, who also produced a music video for their rendition. Cristian Castro, whose real name is Cristian Sainz Valdés Castro, was born in Mexico in 1974. Raised in an artistic environment, he is the son of actors Verónica Castro and Manuel "El Loco" Valdés, and nephew of producer José Alberto "El Güero" Castro, as well as comedian Germán Valdés (known as Tin Tán) and Ramón Valdés (famous for his role as Don Ramón in El Chavo del Ocho). Although he initially explored acting, his true calling solidified in singing, a discipline that catapulted him to international fame. Throughout his career, he has managed to place 29 of his songs at the top of the Top Latin Songs, being considered the third most prominent Spanish-speaking singer in Billboard history.
