The story behind
Amar sin mentiras, according to DoReSol
When you dive into *Amar sin mentiras*, you encounter a groundbreaking proposal. This album, released in June 2004, marked a turning point for Marc Anthony, being his first pop work in Spanish after exploring other genres. What's interesting is that he didn't come alone; he featured the vocal collaboration of Jennifer López, adding an extra layer of appeal to the compositions. The production was handled by Colombian singer Estéfano, who managed to give this project a distinct sonic identity. The impact was such that, in February 2005, the album won the Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album at the 47th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. The first single, *¿Ahora Quién?*, resonated strongly, reaching the top of the Hot Latin Tracks charts during 2004.
Marc Anthony's journey, whose real name is Marco Antonio Muñiz Ruiz Rivera, born in New York in September 1968, is fascinating. Before establishing himself in salsa and Latin pop, he took his first steps in hip hop with Little Louie, achieving a number one hit in the United States in 1991. It was in the same year that Ralph Mercado, from RMM, pushed him towards salsa, where he achieved sustained success. His talent also crossed the Atlantic, triumphing in Spain with Bat Discos, under the guidance of Jorge E. Gómez, and becoming one of the first Latin salsa artists to earn gold records in that country. An important milestone in his career was his participation in *The Capeman*, a work by Paul Simon, who personally chose him, considering him his protégé. He is the son of Felipe Muñiz and Guillermina Rivera, and his stage name was an adaptation to avoid confusion with his admired namesake.
