The story behind

Amanecer, according to DoReSol

When Rubén Blades took his first steps on the music scene with his debut album, De Panamá a New York, released in 1970 under the Alegre Records label, a narrative depth that would go beyond the immediate was already glimpsed. This work, which also marked the eleventh for Pete Rodríguez and His Orchestra, laid the groundwork for future compositions that would resonate strongly. Although songs like Descarga Caliente, El Bravo, and Juan Gonzáles did not achieve the expected impact at the time, they became creative pillars for later, highly significant pieces such as Pedro Navaja, Plástico, and Siembra. The recording of this album coincided with a family trip by Blades to New York, a context that undoubtedly influenced his artistic vision. In fact, the experience lived during that stay in the city inspired the composition of El Cazanguero, which would later find its place on the album The Good, the Bad, the Ugly.

After his second arrival in New York, Rubén Blades caught the attention of Pancho Cristal, a producer at Alegre Records, who already had a track record of success. The song Amanecer, lasting 2 minutes and 50 seconds, is part of this important moment in the artist's career, where experimentation and the construction of a personal language began to take shape.
