The story behind

Alba, according to DoReSol

The song Alba has that air that seeps in between dusk and dawn, as if the title itself were an invitation to look precisely at that moment where everything seems possible. It is not just another track on the album: its three minutes and forty-eight seconds hide a construction that plays with silences and melodic twists, as if each note were breathing before continuing. The hook lies in that contrast between the intimate and the expansive, something that in the 1990s was not so common in the Argentine scene.

The song is part of Tratar de Estar Mejor, the album that in 1994 confirmed him as a key figure in Latin pop of the time. Produced by Cachorro López, the record blended reggae, ballads, and funk, and Alba fit perfectly into that balance: it was not the most commercial song, but one of those that lingered. By then, Diego Torres had already moved on from his TV days on La Banda del Golden Rocket and his self-titled debut album, which sold two hundred thousand copies driven by tracks like Estamos juntos. However, it was this second work that led him to sell over four hundred thirty thousand copies in Argentina alone, cementing his status as one of the most-listened-to artists in the region. The tour that followed took him across Latin America, and the following year he even participated in the tribute album to Joan Manuel Serrat with a version of Penélope, showing that his reach already crossed borders.
