Pasaporte

Pasaporte started in Bogotá, in the 80s, with five guys who used to gather to play music. Elsa was the voice, Pablo the keyboards, Roberto the bass and Lila also on keyboards. Later joined Sergio, the guitarist. Together they made rock in Spanish and new wave, and they got into the boom of that music in Colombia. They were one of the most prominent groups at that time.

The first album came out in 1988, named after the band. It had songs that got on the radios, like "Igor y Penelope", which was also the first video clip of Simón Brand. Other songs that were well received were "Desertores" and "Castillos en el aire". That album was chosen as one of the 25 most important of Colombia in the 20th century, according to the magazine Semana.

More about Pasaporte

Biography

In 1988 they also joined Compañía Ilimitada for the "Concierto de Conciertos", an event in Bogotá with artists of rock in Spanish. There were people like Miguel Mateos and Los Prisioneros. Pasaporte was one of the two Colombian groups that participated.

A year later they recorded a second album, Un día X, with producer Cachorro López. In that album they did a song with Andrés Calamaro called "Lejos de aquí". But the album was delayed due to problems, and the violence in the country affected the band. In the end, in 1990, some of them left.

Elsa went back to record something in 1992, with Andrés Cepeda and his band Poligamia. It was a song called "Desvanecer", which became a radio hit. The producer was Pablo Tedeschi, who had also been in the original band.

In 2009, Elsa, Pablo and Lila reunited again. Under Pablo's production, they recorded ten songs, with versions of old songs and some new ones. They planned to release a version of "Desertores" with Andrés Cepeda, but the album never came out. The group stopped doing more things because of internal differences. It is said that the songs could be part of a project by Elsa. Juanes, the singer, helped them reunite, because he recognized Elsa in a concert and told her how important Pasaporte had been for him.
