Jason Thomas Mraz, born on June 23, 1977 in Mechanicsville, Virginia, is an American musician who plays as a guitarist, singer and songwriter. His musical style spans a variety of genres, including reggae, pop, rock, folk, jazz and hip hop. Mraz is recognized for his hits "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)", "I'm Yours", "Lucky" and "I Won't Give Up".In 2002, Mraz released his first album titled Waiting for My Rocket to Come, which includes the single "The Remedy (I Won't Worry)", which had moderate success. However, his second album, Mr A-Z, released in 2005, marked a turning point in his career by reaching fifth place on the Billboard Hot 200 and selling over a hundred thousand copies in the United States.The year 2008 saw the release of his third album, We Sing.

We Dance. We Steal Things., which reached third place on the Billboard 200 and achieved global success, charting in the top 10 of numerous international lists. The single "I'm Yours" from the same album reached sixth place on the Billboard Hot 100, remaining on the chart for 76 weeks, breaking the previous record held by LeAnn Rimes. This single was certified triple platinum by the RIAA in the United States. "Lucky", in collaboration with Colbie Caillat, was also an international success.In March 2003, Mraz was the opening act for Tracy Chapman at the Royal Albert Hall in London. In July 2005, he supported Alanis Morissette on her tour Jagged Little Pill Acoustic.

Biography

His second album, Mr. A-Z, released on July 26, 2005 under Atlantic Records, reached fourth place on the Billboard 200. This album received a Grammy nomination for Best Recording Package, non-classical, and its producer, Steve Lillywhite, was nominated for Producer of the Year. Billy "Bushwalla" Galewood, Mraz's friend and former roommate, collaborated on the album co-writing "Curbside Prophet" and "I'll Do Anything".The tour for Mr. A-Z began on September 12 at the San Diego Music Awards, with performances by Bushwalla and Tristan Prettyman, with whom Mraz co-wrote "Shy That Way" in 2002.

Mraz and Prettyman maintained a relationship that ended in 2006, and together they wrote "All I Want For Christmas is Us". In November 2005, Mraz opened five concerts for the Rolling Stones during their world tour. That same year, he participated in the "Favoritos" advertising campaign by The Gap, alongside artists such as Tristan Prettyman, Michelle Branch, Joss Stone, Keith Urban, Alanis Morissette, Brandon Boyd and Michelle Williams. In December 2005, Mraz launched the first part of his podcast course.
