More about Ismael Serrano
Biography
In 1998 he released *La memoria de los peces*, another album that gave him platinum in Spain. In this work he addressed themes from South America, such as the Chilean dictatorship or the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo. He also dedicated a song to the Republic with *Al bando vencido*. That year he also collaborated in solidarity projects, such as *Son de niños* or *Un barco de sueños*, where other artists performed songs by Pablo Guerrero.
In the mid-90s he started to mix styles, such as jazz, in *Los paraísos desiertos* (2000). That album gave him platinum and a nomination for the Goya Awards for *Km. 0*, a song from a movie. He also worked with artists such as Víctor Manuel, Serrat or Pablo Milanés in albums such as *Encuentros en La Habana*.
In 2002 he released *La traición de Wendy*, where he mixed bossa nova, jazz and blues. The album gave him two gold discs, in Spain and Argentina, and reached number one in Madrid. He then went on tour throughout Spain and South America, visiting countries such as Mexico, Chile or Peru. He also acted in a movie, *El corazón de Jesús*, where he performed some songs written especially for the film.
When the 2001 attacks and the Iraq war began, Ismael wrote songs such as *Aquella tarde* or *Zona cero*, which spoke about the conflicts in the world. These were included in *Principio de incertidumbre* (2003), a double album and live DVD recorded in Madrid. There he performed previous songs and released six new tracks, accompanied by Fredi Marugán and Javier Bergia. Other artists such as Aute and Pedro Guerra also collaborated, making duets with him. The tour lasted until 2004, and during that time he started preparing his next album.
