Cyndi Lauper

Cyndi Lauper, known as Cyndi, was born in Brooklyn, New York, in 1953. She started singing in the seventies, first as a vocalist of groups like Doc West and Flyer, and then formed Blue Angel. They released an album in 1980, but the band had problems with their manager, Steven Massarsky. He fired them and left them in debt. In 1981, she met Dave Wolff, a musical director who saw her perform at a New York club. Wolff became her representative and helped her sign with Portrait Records. It was then that she launched her first solo album, *She's So Unusual*, in 1983. Including songs like *Girls Just Want to Have Fun* and *Time After Time*. It was a success and received good reviews.
