Buenos Muchachos

Buenos Muchachos started playing in a neighborhood of Montevideo, where friends would meet to rehearse. Gustavo and Pedro were the first, and they invited two more. That's how the band was formed, and their first show was on a birthday, with a crowd of girlfriends and friends. Later they performed at places like Juntacadáveres, where 100 people filled the room.

In 1994 they started recording. The first album, Nunca fui yo, came out in 1996, on cassettes made by hand. It sold quickly and now it's almost a rare object. They became a quintet with Marcelo, and between 1994 and 1996 they stopped for internal problems. They went back to recording and released Aire rico in 1999, and then Dendritas contra el bicho feo in 2000.

More about Buenos Muchachos

Biography

In 2004, with José and Alejandro on drums and bass, they launched Amanecer búho, edited by Bizarro. They presented it at El Galpón, with sold-out tickets. The first video was "He Never Wants to See You (Once Again)", directed by Diego. They also made music videos and appeared in films like 25 watts and La perrera. They played in many places, from pubs to theaters, in Uruguay and Argentina, and shared the stage with bands like Pixies, Divididos, Yo La Tengo, or Stephen Malkmus.

In 2006, they released Uno con uno y así sucesivamente, presented at the Teatro Metro in 2007. The following year and 2008 saw a significant growth. In 2008, they took a year off, but returned to play at La Trastienda. Later, they stopped for lack of motivation and internal tensions. In 2010, they performed as opening act for the Pixies at the Teatro de Verano, one of their most important moments. In 2011, they added a third guitar and a keyboard player, and presented "Puro Humo" after the release of Se pule la colmena.
