About the album
Música libre, according to DoReSol
The first single, «Sueño con serpientes», was released in September 2010, and its video —directed by Ángel Flores— premiered a month later. The song made a strong impact: in Chile, the album was sold in newsstands alongside the newspaper Las Últimas Noticias starting in December, and by January 2011 it was already topping sales charts, remaining among the top 10 bestsellers for a year. In March of that year, the industry awarded it a gold record for surpassing five thousand copies. By June 2013, it had sold twenty thousand copies in Chile, making it the fifth best-selling Chilean album in physical format of the 21st century.
Two songs stood out in promotion. «Quién fuera» reached number one in Chile, while «Ángel para un final» —released in April 2011— climbed to seventh place. But it was «Santiago de Chile» that found an unexpected home: it was used as the theme for Los Archivos del Cardenal, a TVN series reconstructing cases from the Vicaría de la Solidaridad during Pinochet’s dictatorship. The music video, uploaded in June 2011, accompanied the series’ premiere a month later. More than a covers album, Música libre became a bridge between generations and a gesture of connection with history.
