The story behind
angel para un final, according to DoReSol
In Música libre, the sixth album by Los Bunkers, there is a song that stands out for what it brings with it: ángel para un final, a track that already existed before the Chilean band recorded it. The version by Los Bunkers lasts just over four minutes and sounds like a closing that doesn’t rush, with an air that blends melancholy and calm. It’s not a common cover: the Composer and Lyricist is Silvio Rodríguez, and the band gave it its own weight without altering the essence of the lyrics, which flow like a whisper inviting you to keep listening until the last chord.
The album was recorded in Mexico under the production of Emmanuel del Real, a member of Café Tacuba, a detail that shaped the album’s sound. The edition released in Chile came later, in December 2010, and didn’t follow the traditional path: it was sold alongside the newspaper Las Últimas Noticias and in supermarkets, as part of a strategy to reach more people without relying on a record label. The song, then, became a bridge between what Silvio Rodríguez envisioned and what Los Bunkers turned into their version, unhurried and with a touch that makes it their own.
