The story behind
This song has a rhythm that hooks from the first seconds: the mix of ska with guitars that sound like a street party and a bass that sticks like a heartbeat. The lead vocals, with that carefree and sometimes intentionally off-key air, give it a unique touch that makes it sound more organic than polished. The chorus, with its repeated "I knew you were mine" like a mantra, is impossible to get out of your head once you hear it. What's interesting is how the band manages to make that simplicity sound so powerful, without needing complicated arrangements.
They recorded it in 1989, at a time when Argentine rock was starting to blend local rhythms with Caribbean influences. The album El milagro argentino was first released on Radio Trípoli, but later reissued by Sony Music, which gave it wider distribution. Producer Camilo Iezzi and engineer Walter Chacón in the mix gave it that raw yet vibrant sound, as if the recording had been captured in a single take. The 3:32 duration is just right so it doesn't drag on, but long enough for the track to keep playing in your head.
