The story behind
World Where You Live, according to DoReSol
When Crowded House released their self-titled debut album in 1986, it included a song that would become a major starting point for their international projection. While "Mean to Me" was the first single to be released, it only had distribution in Australia. It was "World Where You Live" that was chosen to be presented to the global audience, appearing a month after the album hit the stores. This strategic choice marked the beginning of their journey outside their homeland.
The piece, composed by Neil Finn and produced by Mitchell Froom, was recorded as part of the debut album sessions. Throughout their career, this song resonated in such a way that it was included in the greatest hits compilation Recurring Dream and also formed part of the repertoire at their farewell concert, Farewell to the World. The music video accompanying "World Where You Live" features Neil Finn releasing a toy house that flies, while the band performs inside a considerably sized house, creating a visual atmosphere that accompanies the song's narrative.
