The story behind
When Do I, according to DoReSol
When the Bee Gees were preparing to release their ninth album, Trafalgar, in 1971, they already had a career marked by the unmistakable vocal harmonies of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. This record, which hit stores in the United States in September and the UK in November, was a turning point that consolidated them as a far-reaching pop act, despite their success on the British charts not being as notable as in North America, where it reached number 34. The lead single, How Can You Mend a Broken Heart?, resonated particularly, reaching number one on the US charts, a milestone that demonstrated the group's connection with their audience.
The recording of Trafalgar was under the production of the Bee Gees themselves, along with Robert Stigwood, who had been promoting the group since their return to the UK in 1967. The Gibb brothers, born on the Isle of Man and with roots in Manchester, England, before emigrating to Australia where they began their career, demonstrated an innate ability to compose and produce their own hits. The track When Do I, with a duration of 4:01, is included on this album which, years later, would be recognized as part of the list 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die.
