The story behind
Ve con él, according to DoReSol
Go with Him by El Cuarteto de Nos is that moment when Uruguayan rock laughs at itself without losing its essence. The band took the song Anna (Got to Him) by The Beatles and turned it into a parody with lyrics that sound like an inside joke, as if the quartet had found a way to mock pop music without ceasing to sound catchy. It's not a simple cover: it's a nod that blends irony with the original structure, something The Carpenters also did in their version, but with a twist only El Cuarteto could pull off.The album Another Christmas in the Trenches, released in 1994 by Ayuí / Tacuabé, is where this song found its place.
The record marked a turning point for the band, as they consolidated a style that played with dark humor and social critique, yet never lost the groove of rock. The length of Ve con él —3 minutes and 52 seconds— is just right for the musical joke to work, neither dragging on nor falling short.
