To Germany With Love

In 1982, Marian Gold and Bernhard Lloyd, who had already explored projects like Nelson Community and Chinchilla Green, joined forces with Frank Mertens to bring Forever Young to life, a name that would soon mutate to Alphaville. This first single, Big in Japan, released in 1983, became a global hit, paving the way for tracks like Sounds Like a Melody and the one that would title their first album, Forever Young.

The debut album, Forever Young, was released on September 27, 1984, under the Warner Music Group label. This work, which included the singles Big in Japan, Sounds Like a Melody, Forever Young, and Jet Set, resonated in several European countries, reaching the top 20 in at least six of them and topping the charts in Norway and Sweden. Following this success, the band continued their career, releasing their second album in 1986, Afternoons in Utopia. Years later, in March 2019, a special edition of Forever Young was released.
