The story behind

The Master Has Come Back, according to DoReSol

When you immerse yourself in The Master Has Come Back, you discover a deep connection with the past. The melody and structure of this song by Damian Marley, released as a single on December 12, 2005, evoke echoes of 1976. That year, Bunny Wailer, one of the last original members of The Wailers, released his album Blackheart Man, which included a track called Bide Up. It is no coincidence that the chorus ("The master has come back"), fragments of the lyrics, and the overall atmosphere of Bide Up reappear in Damian's version. This closeness to the Marley family becomes palpable.

The Master Has Come Back was part of the album Welcome to Jamrock, which Damian Marley released in September 2005. The production of this work was handled by Damian and his brother Stephen Marley, who sought to leverage the family talent. The album, released in the United Kingdom and the United States, earned Damian Marley two Grammy Awards in 2006: one for Best Reggae Album and another for Best Urban/Alternative Performance for the song that gives the album its title. The mixing of The Master Has Come Back was done by James Caruso, and the recording took place in 2005. Although the single aired on the radio and reached position 74 in the United Kingdom, no music video was produced to accompany it.
