The story behind

The Invisible Man (12″ version), according to DoReSol

The twelve-inch version of The Invisible Man, lasting 5:29, is presented as an extended piece that invites immersion in the sonic atmosphere of Queen. This expanded version allows for a more detailed appreciation of the arrangement layers and the production that characterized this work. The recording featured the collaboration of several sound engineers, including Andrew Bradfield, John Brough, Angelique Cooper, Kris Fredriksson, Claude Frider, Andy Mason, David Richards, and Justin Shirley-Smith, under the production of the band itself and David Richards.

The context behind The Miracle, the album of which The Invisible Man (12″ version) is part, is particularly poignant. The band Queen, composed of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor, and John Deacon, began working on this material in January 1988, extending the process over a full year. This period was marked by significant personal circumstances for some of its members, such as Brian May's marital issues and Freddie Mercury's HIV diagnosis in 1987. Originally, the album was to be titled The Invisible Men, but the title was changed to The Miracle just three weeks before its release, as recounted by Roger Taylor. This album was the last to feature a photograph of all four members on its cover. The record achieved notable reception, reaching the top spot on the charts in the United Kingdom, Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, and peaking at number 24 on the US Billboard Top Pop Albums chart.
