The story behind
The Change Is Made, according to DoReSol
When you dive into The Change Is Made, you encounter a piece that, although it wasn't a lead single, encapsulates much of what made the album Horizontal special. This work, released in early 1968, moved between influences ranging from the Beatles to baroque pop, and The Change Is Made fits into that sonic exploration. The recording, produced by the Bee Gees themselves along with Robert Stigwood, aimed for a distinctive sound, and the song's duration, 3:37, allows that atmosphere to develop.
The Gibb brothers —Barry, Robin, and Maurice— were already a recognized name in 1967, having returned to the UK after their early successes in Australia with Spicks and Specks. Their vocal style, with three-part harmonies and Robin's characteristic vibrato, was a trademark. This album, Horizontal, had international releases through labels like Polydor and Atco in the United States and Canada. The 2007 reissue, for example, included stereo and mono mixes, as well as unreleased material, demonstrating the richness hidden in these late sixties recordings.
