The story behind
Terra promessa, according to DoReSol
Eros Ramazzotti recorded Terra promessa in 1986 as part of his second album, Nuovi eroi, a record that marked the beginning of an eleven-work streak at the top of the Italian charts. The song was not only included in that material but was also extended by one minute with instrumental passages that were not in the single version. That same year, Adesso tu —the track that preceded it— won the San Remo Music Festival and reached number one in Italy, Switzerland, and Austria, solidifying a sound that was already resonating strongly across Europe and Latin America.
What stands out most about Terra promessa is its tight duration: just three minutes and forty-four seconds, yet with an arrangement by Celso Valli that gives it an epic feel without losing its freshness. It’s no coincidence that the album was the first of a long series of hits in his career, a detail that speaks to how those years were pivotal in defining his style. The production, handled by Piero Cassano, along with lyricists Adelio Cogliati and Ramazzotti himself, managed to capture that blend of ballad and pop-rock that has characterized him ever since.
