The story behind

Un nuovo amore, according to DoReSol

Eros Ramazzotti recorded it in 1986 with a sound that strayed from what was customary in his time. Un nuovo amore does not sound like just another Italian pop song: it carries a trademark that he would later repeat in his albums, that blend of ballad and rock with melodic touches that made it instantly recognizable. The song lasts 4:14, but on the album Nuovi eroi it appears with an extra minute of instrumental passages that give it a different twist from the original. It is not just another track on the album, but the closing of a cycle that began with the success of Adesso tu, the single that same year won the San Remo Music Festival and climbed to the top positions in Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

The song was born at a key moment for Ramazzotti: Nuovi eroi was his second album and the first of eleven consecutive ones that reached number one in Italy. Produced by Piero Cassano and with lyrics co-written by Pierangelo Cassano, Adelio Cogliati and Ramazzotti himself, the album was recorded in a context where the artist was still defining his style. The 1:05 bonus on the album version is not filler: those details are what round out the sound, as if Ramazzotti knew this song would be the one to close the first stage of his career.
