The story behind
Kool & the Gang released "Take My Heart" in 1952. The song has a smooth rhythm, as if someone were leading you to the piano and inviting you to dance. It’s a pop song with a melody that sticks in your head. They recorded it at Capitol Records, and it was paired with "I Never Cared" on the B-side. The track lasted just over three minutes, but in that time it featured lyrics about love and desire. It was a single that charted in the top 12 in the UK and reached number 12 in the US. Al Martino was the first artist to record it, and later others like Vic Damone and Toni Arden also covered it. ↓ Skip to chordsIntro 1
