The story behind
Take Me, according to DoReSol
When Laura Branigan released her third album, Self Control, in 1984, she not only presented a collection of songs but also included Take Me, a track that, with its 3:42 duration, added to the album's sonic proposal. This work, released by Atlantic Records, achieved a notable reception, reaching 23rd place on the US Billboard 200 and obtaining platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America. Globally, Self Control resonated strongly in continental Europe, ranking among the top five positions in several countries.
Four singles were released from the album that captured the public's attention. One of them was Branigan's own reinterpretation of Self Control, originally by Raf, which became a significant commercial success, climbing to fourth place on the US Billboard Hot 100 and topping the charts in Canada and various European nations. Another standout track, The Lucky One, also had its moment on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching number 20. Even her rendition of Ti amo, by Umberto Tozzi, demonstrated her reach, hitting second place in Australia and fifth in Canada.
