The story behind

This song doesn't sound like the others from 1990s Uruguayan rock. It sounds like a scream tangled in the edges of irony and rawness, as if the microphone were right next to the mouth of whoever is singing it. It's not just the lyrics that make it different, but how it sounds: that rhythm that moves forward without haste but without pause, as if each chord knew it carried something important to say. The melody doesn't stay still; it stretches and contracts, as if breathing at the same time as the narrator. It's one of those songs you don't forget because it doesn't sound like a song, but like something more urgent.

They recorded it in 1994, at a time when El Cuarteto de Nos was no longer just a band from Montevideo with wild ideas, but a group that was redefining how rock could sound in Uruguay. The album Otra Navidad en las trincheras was released by Ayuí / Tacuabé, a label that at the time wasn't afraid to release records that didn't follow radio rules. It lasted 3:37, just enough time for the lyrics—full of sarcasm and sharp observations—not to get diluted in unnecessary repetitions. They weren't trying to sound like anyone else; they were aiming for what came out of their instruments and mouths to carry the weight of something that could no longer be silenced.
