The story behind
Slide, according to DoReSol
"Slide" is one of those songs that captures the essence of introspection and love in its lyrics. Dido, with her soft, melodic voice, invites us to explore deep emotions, and in this piece, she manages to create an immersive atmosphere that resonates with the human experience. The production, handled by Dido and her brother Rollo, stands out for its delicacy, with each sonic element intertwining to form an intimate and reflective atmosphere. The 4:53 runtime allows the song to unfold fluidly, taking the listener on an emotional journey.
The recording process for *No Angel*, Dido’s debut album released on June 1, 1999, began in 1995, when she had already written several songs inspired by her personal life. During this time, she collaborated with her brother’s band, Faithless, which earned her the attention of Clive Davis, president of Arista Records. Dido signed with the label and, together with Rollo, completed the album, which addresses themes such as love and codependency. In addition to Rollo, other collaborators such as Rick Nowels and Sister Bliss contributed their talents to this work, but it is Dido’s voice that truly shines, making *Slide* a unique and moving experience.
