The story behind
Don’t Think of Me, according to DoReSol
Dido’s song “Don’t Think of Me” stands out for its emotional narrative that explores the complexity of relationships and introspection. In this track, the artist invites listeners to reflect on love and saying goodbye, with lyrics that resonate deeply with those who have experienced similar situations. The production combines pop elements with a touch of electronica, characteristic of the sound that Dido and her brother Rollo Armstrong developed through their collaboration. This blend creates an immersive atmosphere that complements the vulnerability of the lyrics.
Recording for *No Angel*, Dido’s debut album, began in 1995—a process marked by the creation of songs inspired by personal experiences. During this time, Dido also worked with her brother’s band, Faithless, which allowed her to catch the attention of Clive Davis, president of Arista Records. With his support, Dido was able to complete the album, for which she wrote all the lyrics herself, addressing themes such as love and emotional dependence. Rollo and Youth served as producers, and Hugo Nicolson handled the mixing. Released on June 1, 1999, this album not only marked the beginning of her career but also set a new standard in pop music at the time.
