The story behind

Shake, Rattle and Roll, according to DoReSol

The song Shake, Rattle and Roll stands out for its contagious energy and its rhythm that invites movement. Written in 1954 by Jesse Stone, who is also known as "Charles Calhoun", it was originally recorded by Big Joe Turner. This version became a milestone in music, reaching number one on the Billboard R&B chart. The phrase that gives the song its title had already appeared in earlier songs, but Stone managed to give it a new twist that resonated with the public. Turner's recording took place in New York on February 15 of that same year, and its release as a single occurred in April, marking the beginning of a success that would transcend generations.

Shortly after, on June 7, 1954, Bill Haley and His Comets recorded their own version, just as Turner's began to dominate the charts. Haley's interpretation, released in August, was also well-received, reaching seventh place on the Billboard singles chart and remaining in the Top 40 for twenty-seven weeks. This recording period was crucial for the development of rock and roll, as the band was characterized by its vibrant style and ability to connect with the audience. The combination of Haley's voice and the Comets' accompaniment, which included piano, rhythm guitar, bass, and saxophone, created a festive atmosphere that continues to be appreciated. The song not only became a classic but was also performed by other artists, including Elvis Presley, who recorded it twice. The energy and rhythm of Shake, Rattle and Roll continue to inspire musicians and dancers today.
