The story behind
Sapato velho, according to DoReSol
The song *Sapato Velho* has a special air that sets it apart, and much of that lies in its origin. It was written by a trio of composers: Cláudio Nucci, Mú Carvalho, and Paulinho Tapajós. This piece was included in the group's self-titled album, *Roupa Nova*, released in 1981. It is one of those compositions that, over time, has become a sonic reference for those who know the band's trajectory. Roupa Nova, with its career of over thirty years, has managed to maintain a constant connection with the Brazilian public. Since their early hits in the 80s, they have managed to place their songs on the radio and, very particularly, in soap operas.
This presence on the small screen has been key for their songs, like *Dona* or *Coração Pirata*, to become rooted in the popular imagination. The band, formed by experienced musicians, has released numerous albums and DVDs, and has known how to adapt to industry changes, even creating their own label, Roupa Nova Music. A notable moment in their history was the recording at the iconic Abbey Road studio in London in 2009, a project that earned them a Latin Grammy award.
