The story behind

Samba em prelúdio, according to DoReSol

The Samba em prelúdio is a piece that was born in 1962, the result of the collaboration between Vinícius de Moraes and Baden Powell de Aquino. Its essence falls within the bossa nova genre, but it also has strong roots in samba, as its title suggests. The music of Baden Powell, with the delicacy that characterized him, blends with the poetic pen of Vinícius de Moraes, who was already known for his work on iconic songs like Garota de Ipanema. The duration of this specific recording is 3 minutes and 34 seconds, a time that allows the melodic and lyrical atmosphere of the composition to unfold.

The first time this work could be heard was in 1964, included in the album Le monde musical de Baden Powell. However, the song took on a new dimension in 1970, when Vinícius de Moraes reinterpreted it alongside Maria Creuza and Toquinho, giving it a version that resonated strongly. Later, in 1971, the song crossed linguistic borders with an adaptation into Italian, titled Samba-preludio, with lyrics by Sergio Bardotti and performed by Patty Pravo. This Italian version had its own journey, being revisited in 1976 by Ornella Vanoni on her LP La voglia la pazzia l'incoscienza l'allegria, again featuring the participation of Vinicius and Toquinho.
