The story behind
Samba da benção, according to DoReSol
To immerse yourself in *Samba da benção*, it is key to understand that it is not just a melody, but a dialogue between two creative minds from Brazil. The music was born from the pen of Baden Powell, while the poetry, the lyrics that give it soul, is the work of Vinícius de Moraes. This piece saw the light of day for the first time in 1967, as part of the compilation *Vinícius*. What is interesting is that, alongside *Para uma menina com uma flor*, this track was selected to accompany the 1966 film by Claude Lelouch, *Un homme, un homme*. That film had an important journey, winning at the Cannes Festival and, the following year, an Oscar Award in the category of Best Foreign Film.
The story of *Samba da benção* does not end there. In 1969, it was given a new dimension with a version that featured Italian lyrics, adapted by Sergio Bardotti under the title *Samba delle benedizioni*. This reinterpretation was included in the album *La vita, amico, è l'arte dell'incontro*, a record that brought together creations by Vinícius and Sergio Bardotti. Vinícius de Moraes, born in Rio de Janeiro in 1913 and who passed away in the same city in 1980, was a fundamental figure in Brazilian popular music. Beyond being the author of the iconic *Garota de Ipanema*, his talent as a poet manifested in countless lyrics that became classics, and he also explored his facet as a performer and diplomat for Brazil. The duration of this piece is 6 minutes and 57 seconds, a generous space to unfold its richness.
