The story behind
Quiero, according to DoReSol
When approaching Quiero, we encounter a piece described as "bohemian" and "hippie," a love story that, curiously, doesn't focus on romantic love per se. Instead, the lyrics delve into recent events in the world around us, culminating in the search for an individual who defies nostalgia, finding their entertainment in what seems impossible. This lyrical perspective, which goes beyond the conventional, is one of the hallmarks of Ricardo Arjona.
The recording of Quiero took place in various studios, spanning Miami and Mexico City, before being mixed and mastered in New York. This song, released in 2007, was part of Quién Dijo Ayer, a compilation album that, according to the artist himself, aimed to be more than just a collection of hits. It was a project that began with an experimental air and a dose of informality, but became more complex thanks to the work of the producers. Dan Warner, Lee Levin, and Tommy Torres were the minds behind the production, and Torres, in particular, had already collaborated with Arjona on Adentro. The music video, filmed in the Dominican Republic and released in November 2007, was directed by Ricardo Calderón and featured the participation of Dominican model Massiel Taveras. This track also received recognition from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers in 2009 as Pop/Ballad Song of the Year.
